Not having to worry about something cold sitting on your skin or having to get up when cozy aren't the only benefits to an overnight mask. Most are created with hydration in mind. Although these masks are created to help with hydration you will still find that each mask is different and will still cater to a range of different needs; just look for those featuring ingredients you know help fight your problem areas. Overnight masks also help lock in place and the absorption of any products you've applied before applying the mask, and work for deeper penetration than that of their wash off cousins.
I have found two that most definitely benefit my skin in different ways, two that I have/will be continuing to repurchase and I think deserve a shout out, to have the world know all about them.
Innisfree Green Tea Sleeping Mask:
We all know Green Tea is meant to help fasten your metabolism, but when applied in the form of Innisfree's Green Tea Sleeping Mask, generously to troubled skin overnight you'll wake to find those troubles washed away.
The reason I use and love this Green Tea mask, or in this case BEAUTY Green Tea (born specially for use on the skin, boasting to be 3.5 x more power than your typical Green Tea) is because it has potent anti-inflammatory properties thanks to its incredibly high Catechin content, ensuring any redness experienced from blemishes is reduced. This tea also holds powerful anti-bacterial properties, helping to prevent acne, kill bacteria and unclog pores.
This no stick, gel like formula sinks into the skin fast, perfect for applying right before bed. I find I see the best results when used during my skins troublesome phases, waking up to any breakouts being drastically reduced in size; almost appearing completely gone thanks to the disappearance of any redness caused by breakouts. Also because of consistency I reach for this bad boy when looking for a spot treatment on larger pimples - this has completely replaced my old bright pink spot treatment. This mask is a once a week go to, reaching for it more often if I can see areas becoming angry.
Available in store or online at Innisfree.
Origins Drink Up Intensive:
If you haven't heard about this moisturising baby... Where in the world have you been? I feel like this is one of Origins most talked about, well known products to date. Dare I say, a cult item?
This bad boy claims to help minimise premature ageing signs, while keeping skin hydrated for up to 72 hours. It features a range of highly beneficial ingredients including, Rose Water to aid in soothing the skin, Glycerin to help the skin maintain moisture and Apricot Oil which softens skin giving it more a supple appearance.
Applying this naturally sweet smelling face mask after showering, I find I wake up with no dryness around any sores from old blemishes, in fact more often then not scab sizing will have been dramatically reduced if not disappeared completely. Skin is "as soft as a babies bum", bright and fresh. Using this at least twice a week has become very natural to me, something I use when my skin needs a major pick me up.
Available in store or online at Mecca.
Overnight Masks are one of my best discoveries to date and I have so many more that it is an absolute must that I try out. I think this type of mask is something I'm going to hold on to for as long as I can. Which have you tried so far and your favourites of the bunch?
